Join Us for 14 Days Using No Currency

Preparedness Pro Commerce Independence Challenge http://preparednesspro.wordpress.com/2009/10/08/preparedness-pro-commerce-independence-challenge/Issued a challenge to not use currency for 14 days. I talked to my husband last night about the challenge, we talked to the kids this morning and we are doing it. We started Oct. 11 and will end Oct. 26th and we are excited to see how it will be. There will be one exception...I will fill my tank once, due to seminary distance & DH will buy gas because he has over a 70 mile commute each day. Other than that we are committed to no extra car trips, no using debt cards or cash. We are even going to have a surprize "black out" day with no power. Our 14 year old son said, "this is like a test...no, more like training". He's right this will be a great training experience. Thanks Kelli (Prepardness Pro), for the opportunity. So will you join us in the challenge. Just to see what it is that you need, what your family can do without or even how they will make do???

We are on day 4 of the challenge. We are doing great. There is a list on the fridge of things to buy with only 3 items on it. We forgot to check the dog food supply before we started, so we will have to buy dog food. The other items we can substitute or do without.

Yesterday morning we awoke to a power outage. Now we don’t have to have a pretend "black out". It was a wonderful feeling to know that we would be completley comfortable in our home and had what we needed for a power outage, even if it lasted a few days.

What a great idea! This would really give us a good idea of the things we would need to stock or supply during a real emergency! :) I will have to bring this up in our next family council!

So glad you're taking me up on this offer to take the Commerce Indpendence Challenge! It's a great way to see where you need to be more prepared while still within the safety of a dress rehearsal. Be sure to head on back to the blog and leave your comments on progress. It would be great to hear how things go.
